(TRINIDAD, Colo.) – The Trinidad State Softball team struggled while playing nine games in Texas, dropping six of them despite hitting 15 homeruns. The wins were against El Paso Community College and a doubleheader sweep against Frank Phillips College.
Trinidad is ranked second in the nation in homeruns with 25, Angelina College is first with 30 homeruns. Sophomores Isabella Navarro and Chelsey Runyon lead Trinidad with seven homeruns on the season and that places them tied for fourth on the national level. Navarro is currently hitting at a .526 average while Runyon is hitting right at .500. Olivia Muniz is right behind at .441 with four homeruns.
The Lady Trojans (6-7) will next be in action on Thursday against North Platte Community College for games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Southside Park. Then Saturday, Trinidad will host Luna Community College for a doubleheader beginning at noon. The Adams State JV game originally scheduled for Sunday February 19 in Alamosa has been postponed until a later date.
