The Lady Trojans have continued to show improvement over the second-half of the season and are solidly in second place with only one week remaining in the regular season.
The week started at home with a disappointing split with Otero. The Trojans blasted five home runs in the opener but still fell 13-12 to the Rattlers. Game two was a back and forth affair that ended on an Avery Boccella walk-off grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, 14-13 Trojans.
The next day in Sterling, the Trojans jumped off the bus and swept the Plainswomen 6-1 and 6-1 to claim the season series 5-1. Teddi Garcia went the distance in both games to pick up the wins, and Katie Glaze contributed all six runs in the first game off of a pair of home runs.
On Sunday, the Trojans led league leading Lamar early but let it slip away for the 4-3 loss. Alyssa McWilliams went 1-for-3 with a home run for Trinidad. Game two saw Garcia claim her 17th win of the season as the Trojans battered the Lopes 10-1. Glaze was 3-for-3 with four RBI's in the game.
The Trojans are currently in second place in the region standings behind Lamar. Lamar has clinched the top spot and will host the tournament later this month. The Trojans have clinched a playoff spot as they are now 15-11 in conference with only four games remaining. TSJC (23-21, 15-11) will host Lamar (32-13, 22-4) on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon. It will be 'Parent's Day' and 'Sophomore Day' at the Park.
